SRINAGAR: Two days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kashmir, unknown persons this evening attacked a camp of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Khanyar area of Srinagar, resulting in injuries to four paramilitary personnel.
Official sources said that the “militants” lobbed a “grenade” towards 82 CRPF stationed in Ikhwan Hotel here in Khanyar. The grenade, they said, exploded with a big bang and four paramilitary personnel were injured.
Soon after the attack, police and CRPF contingents rushed to the area and cordoned off whole area.
The CRPF spokespersons said that four of their men were in the blast. “I am on the spot. We are assessing the situation and it seems it was a small intensity blast, not a grenade. Our men have not received splinter injuries,” he said.
